2018 Pink Shirt Day Luncheon Raises $90,000

Our annual Pink Shirt Day Luncheon presented by Coast Capital Savings took place on February 23rd at the Blue Water Cafe in downtown Vancouver. With the generous support of our guests, donors, sponsors and volunteers we reached an impressive total of close to $90,000, making it our most successful luncheon to date. The funds raised will go towards programs throughout BC, helping build children’s healthy self-esteem with a focus on anti-bullying and violence prevention. 

This year was more eventful than most, with one of the only major snow storms to take place in Vancouver  happening on the same day.  Despite the snow,  the afternoon, hosted by CKNW host Simi Sara, was a great success. Guests braved the elements to enjoy a delicious meal, enticing silent auction, a live auction led by Marco Iannuzzi, former player for the BC Lions, and of course, pink bubbly wine! 

The highlite of the the afternoon was the impactful speech given by guest speaker, Suman Virk, who told the heart wrenching and tragic story of her daughter Reena, who's life was taken by bullying. We are so grateful to Suman and Manjit Virk for sharing their daughter's story and providing a deeper meaning and context to this event.
